I definitely recommend going in to try dresses - we found one we liked online but it didn't look as good on my maid of honor in person. We would have found a mother-of-the-bride dress as well but for some reason they only carried up to a size 16 & we needed one size up. Our attendant tried her best to order it for us, though. I also would have purchased a crinoline but they didn't seem to carry any.
